Taekwondo is a the national sport of Korea and has been an Olympic sport since 2000. It is also a form of Martial Arts that uses all the parts of the body but it is known for its graceful kicking techniques. Taekwondo is also used by the Korean Military forces as part of their training.
Taekwondo consists of... Kyorugi (Sparring), Poomsae (Forms - Sequence of techniques), Ho Sin Sul (Self defence), Kyokpa (Test breaking) and philosophy.
"TAE" means to destroy with the feet.
"KWON" means to strike with the hand.
"DO" means to path or way.
TAEKWONDO can be translated "The way of the foot and fist"
